Indie Director Rethinks P2P Distribution

"The Nines" director John August says that, if he had it to do all over again, he'd upload his independent film to peer-to-peer networks on his own, bypassing the festival circuit and art-house distribution, NewTeeVee reports. The film, which made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, made less than $100,000 in theatrical release, but the theatrical window delayed DVD distribution and hurt the buzz. The film also ended up on BitTorrent before its DVD release.
